Evaluating TOD in the context of local area planning using mixed-methods

In this paper, we developed a three-step methodology for evaluating Local Area Planning (LAP) projects prepared to promote sustainable transit-oriented development (TOD). Using data from the Indian city of Ahmedabad, quantified LAP-TOD indicators evaluate TOD levels before and after LAP implementation around planned metro corridors. We conducted expert interviews reviewed documents better understand results these indices develop policy recommendations strengthen LAPs. our quantitative analysis, found that normalized post-LAP index scores studied station areas ranged 0.12 0.30. These are low, there is much room improvement, considering highest score can be achieved 1. Through with carefully selected experts, were able get comprehensive picture different opinions on local challenges stations. reviewing documents, identified several important gaps in conclude contextual mixed-methods approach proved useful planning project, as it revealed converging conflicting qualitative analysis. Thus, study contributes existing literature by arguing combination both methods best suited capture all relevant elements provide sufficient basis recommendations.
